22 October 2026 – Norwegian engineering and technology company Techouse has entered into an agreement to acquire Ambio Water, a specialist provider of potable water system services for the offshore industry. The acquisition forms part of Techouse's strategy to build a world-leading technology and services platform within water treatment.
“Ambio Water strengthens our position in an area that is becoming increasingly important for both energy and industrial companies. Together with our recent investment in Eta Process Plant, we are building an even stronger centre of excellence within water treatment, combining leading technologies with specialist expertise and digital solutions. This enables us to better support our customers in achieving safe, energy-efficient and predictable operations,” says Svein Helge Pettersen, CEO of Techouse.
Techouse develops, designs and delivers customised water treatment plants and heat recovery systems for the offshore industry and other energy markets.
Potable water systems
Since its inception in 2000, Ambio Water has become the most widely used specialist provider of potable water services to the offshore and maritime industries in Norway. Its customer portfolio includes most major operators, drilling contractors and shipowners operating on the Norwegian continental shelf, covering fixed production platforms, FPSOs, drilling rigs, wellboats, subsea vessels and offshore support vessels.
Ambio Water provides services spanning the entire lifecycle of potable water systems, including risk assessments, contingency planning, verifications and audits, sampling and laboratory analyses, as well as backflow prevention testing. The company also performs inspection, cleaning, disinfection and full refurbishment of potable water tanks, in addition to providing engineering services, troubleshooting and technical support.
The company has developed a proprietary digital platform for monitoring and compliance management of offshore water and fuel systems. In addition, Ambio Water is the leading training provider within offshore potable water management.
Ambio Water employs 10 people, almost all of whom are dedicated potable water specialists. The company generated revenues of approximately NOK 28 million in 2025. Headquartered in Stavanger, Ambio Water will continue operating under its existing management team as part of Techouse AS.
“Clean and safe drinking water is probably something most Norwegians take for granted. The reality is, however, that society to a large degree comes to a standstill without it. This is especially true on offshore installations and vessels, which essentially are small communities at sea. Maintaining full control of water quality at all times is therefore critical. This is where Ambio’s expertise makes a real difference, helping to keep the offshore and maritime industries operating safely and efficiently,” says Bjørn Tore Sundvor-Halleland, who heads up Ambio Water.
Water treatment expertise
Earlier this week, Techouse announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the UK-based company Eta Process Plant, a leading supplier of water treatment solutions to the offshore and onshore energy industries. The company delivers both vacuum deaeration and gas-strip deaeration systems, as well as complete water injection packages for onshore and offshore applications.
Techouse itself develops and supplies advanced water treatment systems for the offshore and energy industries, including solutions for water injection, sulphate removal, deaeration and other critical processes that contribute to safe and reliable operations.
“Water treatment is a highly specialised field that is already critically important and will remain so in the years ahead. Techouse now consists of several strong specialist teams across different water treatment disciplines. I look forward to leveraging the combined expertise of these teams to solve our customers’ most complex challenges,” says Svein Helge Pettersen.
Techouse acquires 100 per cent of the shares in Ambio AS. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the transaction.
