Halvorsen TEC wins electro-chlorination package for Statoil Oseberg South
Statoil Oseberg South
Halvorsen TEC has been awarded a contract for electro-chlorination on Statoil’s Oseberg South platform. Project includes standardized electro-chlorination system with a capacity of 7kg/h using Tubular Electrode Concept designed for continuous operation to provide safe and effective chlorine dosing at up to 2 ppm and treating 3500 m3/hr of seawater.
This contract we are delivering in cooperation with Permascand, a leading supplier of electrodes and electrochemical equipment. Project will be executed together with Aibel technical team in Bergen.
Oseberg South is a brownfield project development in the North Sea, located 115 km from the Norwegian coast line, and is developed with an integrated drilling, accommodation and production platform on a steel jacket.
The existing chlorination unit on Oseberg South has insufficient capacity and will be replaced with a new electrochlorination unit. The new system will produce hypochlorite from seawater and dose it to the injection points downstream the unit. The unit will be equipped with a degassing tank, including fans to dilute and provide safe ventilation of hydrogen gas to air.
